Recommended Posts

Hey all im finally sleeved and i muat say ive had an incredible ride here. Ive had a little pain in my incisions so little i havent even had pain medication. Also my surgeon did an incredible job with taking most if not all the gases. I have not felt anything as far as gas pain goes. I honestly except for the little discomfort in my incisions i feel 100% normal. Im hoping it continues. They gave me nothing today by mouth. Tomorrow they do my leak test and then start to zip Water. Hopefully by Friday i can go home!

That's so great! Mine is scheduled for June 11th, it's very comforting to know your doing so wonderful so soon after surgery. I won't lie, I'm kinda terrified about the surgery part! I hope the rest of your journey is smooth sailing!

So many people know their surgery date so early. All I know is that mine will be in July, my 6 th month from my first consultation.

Thank you guys for the well wishes i know you all will do great. Yes i was terrified, especially when i got to the OR and thought to myself "wow this is really it, no turning back now" but the anesthesiologist gave me something to relax and told me ill see you in a few minutes and i was out. Didn't feel a thing i think i even had a dream lol. But still doing great. Im off oxygen hopefully ill continue like this.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
