Anyone else feel like they're going to flunk the psych test/visit or is it just me? lol My friend had to take this test and gave me an example of a question. I'm SO going to flunk this. LOL!

Don't sweat it, you will be fine. In my opinion, these tests are to see about your support system, your eating habits, etc..... They just want to make sure you're mentally prepared for surgery and that you understand that the surgery is just a tool for weight loss. Good luck with your evaluation!! Keep us posted.

Lol. I don't think you can "flunk " per se. It's really just a way to make sure you are ready for this huge change mentally. My psych eval seemed almost like a quiz on what I had learned in my nutritional appts. I have to admit the last three questions were odd to me. 1. Who is our president. 2. How many quarters in a dollar. 3. Is Mickey Mouse a mouse, dog, or cat?

I'm preop and new to this site, but I've never seen anyone on the boards who failed the psych test. Maybe if you're intelligent enough to seek out answers on this board, you are good enough to pass a psych eval. lol

Mine was easy-peasy and I'm NOT the most mentally stable person I know! :D

ok. So now I'm actually looking forward to seeing the psych after yesterday's big time anxiety attack. ugh I'm not even going to mention it and save that for a different visit. I need her to sign the sign the "OK" for surgery first. LOL!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
