Band removal while pregnant???

Recommended Posts

Hi I haven't been on in while and the reason is because i'm 6 1/2 months pregnant, I was banded last April 2006 and got pregnant in October 2006 I wasn't trying to but it happen. Well once I found out I was pregnant my band was released of all Fluid and is still safely inside me with no problems, I was told u have to have all the fluids taken out so your baby can get enough nutrients while being pregnant, and after I have the baby I still have to wait a little while longer to be pumped back up with fluids if I plan on breast feeding so the baby is still getting all the nutirents she needs. Well I know u already saw everybody elses comments but I hope mines helps u out a little also, goodluck and go for it ! :clap2:

My suggestion would be to get a second and third opinion. Be sure. It is one thing to make decisions about your own life and another alltogether to risk the both of you. It can never hurt to have too much information. Good luck with everything! God Bless.

Have you seen your OB yet? There are risks associated with general anesthesia and the fetus. You should consult your OB and see what they think. You may need to go see a maternal-fetal specialist, to see about risks concerneing surgery at this time and risks of the antibiotics you were on. I know this isn't many answers, but it is questions to ask your OB. Please give serious thought to what is said.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
