Just had my sleeve yesterday waiting to go home from the hospital in a few hours it has been a long journey for me as well. Last year I had the band and because of a slippage it had to be removed this January so I'm really looking forward to seeing this succeed and no longer being over weight my entire life good luck to all

Good luck. Doesn't matter which WLS you have as long as you are successful. Do you live in Brooklyn? I grew up there.

Georgetown....wow. A blast from the past. I'm a Canarsie gal. Lived there till I was 20 and then went to Sheepshead Bay. I'm in the city now...West Village. I like downtown better than mid or upper. Do you mind if I ask how you did with the band other than the slip? I'm doing so well it's scary. I've lost all the weight without even any fills. I had good restriction from day one. My surgeon said it's very rare but it does happen. I know of two other banded folks on this site who also have no fills.

Wow that's amazing you have done so well without any fills. Also always very surprised when someone knows Georgetown even people from Brooklyn. Sure the city is nice to live in. The band preslip was doing good I would say I lost 60 pounds which I put back on before the sleeve so hopefully this works for me.

I hope it works for you as well. Please keep me posted.

Also, if you are interested in meeting other New Yorkers, we're having our second NYC/surrounding areas meet and greet on June 14th. Details are being finalized now but we do have the date set. Lisa Caron and I are co-leaders for the NYC chapter and all WLS folks are welcome. Alex will likely be attending this meeting as well. We met him back in February and he's been working with us to get this off the ground. If you want further details on the meeting, I'll be happy to send that info to you. We will also post it and Alex will send a blast email as we get closer. Liz

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
