Hi all, tomorrow morning I will have a scope to dilate where the stomach and the intestines are now connected. I have not been able to br ogress to regular foods because most everything puréed I up chuck. The barium swallow revealed it is to tight at this connection. I am a little worried my food will go right through after dilation. Therefore, I will be hungry cause it goes through smoothly. Anyone heard of this? Any thoughts? Please pray IV goes in on 1st stick. This place has the hardest time with me and I have not been able to get the recommended liquid intake. Thanks Everyone!!

I had to have a dilation done it helped me so much. Before I had it I was unable to keep solid foods down and drinking was hard for me. After the dilation it was so much better. I am able to keep foods down as long as I take my time eating and chew very well. I have realized that I cant tolerate bread all it does is come right back up. But the Dilation works. Good luck with everything.

Thank you so much! On my way there now & this is so comforting.

No problem. Hope all goes well.

Finally starting to see a difference in my appearance. I have been able to tell in my clothes, but just now looking at pictures, I can see it. Does it seem surreal to anyone else? Like maybe, despite all the hard work, diet and exercise, the weight's going to come back? I wonder if I only feel this way because I yo-yo'd for so long. Sometimes I look at the larger pic and can't believe I let it get that bad. :/

I have had 2 dilations done. They are easy and really will help you. It will give you the ability to eat and drink again! I hoping I don't need anymore. Some of us just heal small. The opening gets too small for things to pass and the dilation does the trick. Some people need it more than once. Me for example. I am hoping not a third time.

So I had my surgery on March 28th. I will be 3 months out in about a week in a half. And have only lost 49lbs since my surgery and 59lbs from my highest weight in the beginning the weight was coming off fast but now I feel like I am only loosing about maybe 2-3 pounds a week. I an having my 10 year High School reunion on June 28th and I am trying to get another 10lbs off by then. Any suggestions on what I can do to get these 10lbs off any jump start my weight loose again. And I am having a hard time getting all my recommended protein . Protein powders make me sick to the stomach any ideas on what else I can drink to get my protein in?Help I need help

But what about the protein? What do you suggest i do for that?

3 months out I'm sure you can consume solid protein by now? Start with soft boiled chicken or fish and then slowly move on to other styles (grilling, etc). Eat what you like - don't go the beef way yet tho! Give that some more time... :)

You should be gettin some protein from whole foods as they said. I have a really hard time with meat unless it's slow cooked in a crock pot and shredded. I made an awesome protein packed turkey chili last night that I'll prob eat off for several days. It sits really well with me.

I usually throw chicken legs & thighs into a pressure cooker with some chopped red onions, tomatoes, carrots and beans - spice it up with whatever suits you or whatever you prefer. End result is soft food which goes down easily during the first few weeks post surgery. The max you can consume is about 1 handful in a bowl.

I was eating out at restaurants just after a month post sleeving - you just have to be very choosy about what you easy when out - that's it!
