Went for my first post op visit yesterday. (Surgery was on the 19th of feb) They removed my bandages and everything looks good. I'm down 38lbs and I can have soft pureed foods like eggs, and fish. I feel good. I go back to work in two more weeks. That's what I'm not looking forward too. Lol

Horray for you! You sound like you are doing wonderful! I went back to work after 1 week post op and wished I would have taken 2 weeks. Not because I needed it physically, but it was nice to have the break! : )

Just a tip for returning to work: don't introduce any new foods for the first time while at work. Only take 'safe' foods you've had no problems with to work. Every time I tried new foods at work (maybe 5-6 times over 8 months) it made me sick, which resulted in 1-3 hours of pure misery while hiding out in the ladies room. The first time was the worst and it was only tuna. I was supposed to be in a training class for our new computer system but I spent three hours in the ladies room trying to puke and waiting for it to pass. It was embarrassing and humiliating. Save experimenting for weekends or days off. :-)

I'm glad you're doing well! For some reason I'm dying to have some tuna fish, I hope my taste for it doesn't manifest into a puking session in the ladies room! I'm suppose to go back after 4 weeks, but trying to push for 6 weeks.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
