I went to pureed on day 21 post op, per my surgeons instructions. I didnt skip a beat on weight loss. 2 months out and I still never go more than 3 days without seeing some sort of loss.

My more frequent foods during this period was:

Egg Beaters, cooked on medium heat using non stick spray, I made sure they did not brown as they stiffen up a bit. Small bites and they were great and easy on the stomach. I either made 1/3 to 1/2 cup or 1/2 packet or instant grits and 1/4 cup of the egg beaters. After cooked I put the eggs on top of the grits so the moisture of the grits slightly softened the egg beaters.

Canned chicken, tuna and hard boiled eggs with kraft non fat mayo. Puree them in a food processor. I added various things to them, Pickle relish(just a little) , lowrys seasoning, mustard. Even a little hot sauce in the eggs (yum)

Lite, low cal soups ran through a blender.

One of my favs was ground turkey cooked well, drained and ran through a food processor so it was very tiny bits. Mixed in some low fat re fried Beans and salsa. Just make sure there are no chew able pieces.

With all this I ALWAYS use my scale. 4 to 5 ounces maximum. I was very anal about this is for the most part I still am. If it goes slightly about 5 ounces I pull some out. If its not on my plate I dont miss it. And if I go over I always regret it because I feel like crap when I eat too much.

Thank you for these. Some great ideas here. I'm so ready for the puree stage.

My nutrisionist recommended Beano when we eat beans to combat the gas. I haven't had a problem since I have used them. I chew the beano- which it oddly says you can do, and then I eat the beans.

I also had my surgery 2/19. I have been wanting to eat- and now thinking of all the food, I may never have a chance to eat again. I do want to be healthy . wish I could have it both ways

I had my surgery this past Wednesday so I'm 5 days post op. I am experiencing that "why did I do this" feeling and I've been feeling hungry the past two days which have me fixated on food & all the junk I'm craving right now (ie. French fries and a burger) .. Have any of you experienced a feeling of hunger a few days after post op like I an right now... I'm in complete torture... I can't wait for the purée stage so I can at least have some squash and mashed potatoes (to curb my starch craving)

yes I experienced hunger post op, it baffled me to. My surgeon said, yes you will experience hunger. I ate light progressive chicken poy pie soup (strained of course) and added unflavored protein powder to it, it's a creamier broth so with the added protein it seemed to drive the hunger away, longer to, hope this helps, once all your post op incision pain is gone and you start dropping weight, you will be glad you did it :)

pureed was really hard for me - I got really bored after the full liquids stage and that continued. I did some shrimp and grits where I used canned cream of shrimp Soup and packaged grits. Knowing what I know now, that probably wasn't the best choice because of the sodium, LOL

Make deviled egg filling and just don't eat the whites of the egg - you can also add some tuna or chicken to that if you run it through the processor. Also, try making up a big batch of homemade soup of whatever kind, then run it through a personal blender or food processor to puree.

Dang ya'll.... all this talk about food!! I can't wait until I can eat some cheese grits, pureed whatever, scrambled eggs. My pre-op diet ends in a few hours when I head for the hospital. Soooo tired of Protein drinks already!

Rena, I LOVE your Ragdolls. I thought I recognized your name and sure enough it is the same Ragdoll cattery I have been looking at online.

Any meat or veg that my man was eating, and we put it in the food processor with some broth. My morning go to was scrambled eggs. I had my first Wendy's chili the day the doc said I could move on to solids......on the way home from the doctor's office - couldn't wait.
