I'm on day 5 and doing much better now. The first couple of days were rough as I had a headache I couldn't get rid of and was just feeling soooo crabby. I'm doing great now and as of this morning am down 5 pounds. At the moment I am allowed a dinner of 4-6 oz of lean Protein and a cup and a half of green veggies. Starting Wednesday I go to liquids only. I'm hoping that won't be a huge deal since I've already detoxed off of the carbs/sugar. My surgery is 3/5 and it still doesn't seem real to me yet.

Hey There! I wish all the best with their surgeries coming up soon! I am on my pre op diet right now and its kinda of a challenge with having to cook for my husband and 3 kids! but I'm doing it! My surgery is Sat march 8th in TJ! I am so nervous and excited! We are driving to the border & getting picked up there! I can't wait to stay at the Marriott and go out and check it all out! I have been on my coordinators Facebook page meeting & seeing all the people so happy after surgery, looking fabulous and cheerful! They are all getting exceptional care! I have spoke to a lot of the patients and seen their pictures and videos! They also all get taken out to shop and hang out with the staff! I am so happy I am not jumping through Kaisers Hoops to get approved for my surgery. I have researched for months and feel so confident with my decision! Prayers are sent out to everyone in our Journey to a healthier US! God Bless.... B)

My operation is scheduled for the 3rd March, I started my pre-op diet on the 17th February but thankfully its not a liquid diet, I am allowed 70g of carbs a day so I can have a poached egg for Breakfast with a slice of toast, 125g of Ham or lean deli meat with salad for lunch and then turkey, chicken or lean meat for evening meal with 30g of Pasta or 40g rice (dry weight) with plenty of green veg so I consider myself really lucky as the drop in carbs caused me to have headaches and be shakey for the first couple of days but I feel great now thankfully and looking forward to beginning my new life.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
