Chiropractor Post-Op

Recommended Posts

For those of you who go to a chiropractor, how long post-op did you wait before you went back? I really need an adjustment but my chiropractor wants me to be cleared by my surgeon. Just curious what others have experienced. I will talk to my surgeon when I see him next week.

Good question. I'm afraid I don't have the answer, I would call my doctor's office. I'm thinking 6-8 weeks at least, but I don't really know (very helpful answer NOT).

What I wanted to say is that when you start seriously losing weight, adjustments become so much easier. The chiro can move you around easier and you can get into those weird positions now. You will really like it.

I saw my chiropractor less than two weeks after surgery. My surgeon told me at my week one follow up I could see my chiropractor as soon as I was comfortable. I had my surgery on 12/11/13 and saw my chiropractor on 12/23/13.

My back is as crooked as a politician, (literally). Seeing my chiropractor regularly after my surgery has helped me tremendously since there is really no other remedy for the curves I have in my spine that shouldn't be there. My chiropractic doc wanted the surgeon's clearance too but my surgeon said it was up to me and my comfort level. Didn't hurt a bit--of course I think I was still taking the pain meds--so that's probably why I didn't have pain.

I know since I've lost weight my back is better and so are my knees! Sure wish I could find a doc who could help my knees as much as my chiropractor has helped my back.

Blessings,

Kathleen

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
