Hi everyone. I got banded 14th March 07 by Dr Dillemans in Bruge.

One of the reasons why I chose him was because they were setting up for people to get fills in Scotland, which was not too bad, about 1 to 1 1/2 hr drive to fill doctor from where I live. But now it seems that i will have to face a 3 1/2 drive to Tamworth or 5 + hrs on train to London :phanvan . I know it's prob better to stay with y're surgeon's prefered doctors, but i'm not too adamered at the amount of travelling. Does anyone know of fill doctors up north of England or have any surgestions please.

Thanks Deb

Sorry to hear about your fill problem Debs.

I had my op in Chimay, Belgium and I haven't used their preffered fill specialist. I was lucky and found one in Telford which is only 30 mins away from where I live.

Here is their web address, they might be able to help you with finding a doc up north. www.bandster.co.uk They started up to cater for the bandees that are going abroad to have the op and have problems finding a doc in the midlands, but I am sure they wll know of othe docs in the country.

I wish you luck in your search.

Kind regards

Suzanne

Dr Chris De Bruyne does fills in Scotland and is a colleague of Dr Dillemans. Ask Dr Dillemans if you can use Dr Chris for your fills. ( I believe he charges around £50, but don't quote me as I'm not one of his patients.)

Why dont' you try the local Nuffield or Bupa hospital in your area, they will usually be able to put you in touch with their bariatric surgeon.... Hope that this helps....

WooHoo Got a appointment Dr Chris in April, in Edinburgh, so I will not have to travel as far now. 1 1/2 hrs instead of aprox 4 to 6 hrs. Not bothered where I go so long as it does not take too long to get there.

Carlisle where I live is soooooooo far away from anywhere and no chance of getting fills in Cumbria.

Patbb if you want his details email me and i'll pass them on to you or anyone who needs them. I would put them here but not sure if we are allowed.

hi Debsie Thanks for your information, I have sent an email to b.u.p.a to see if they do any in the north east. If not it would be easier and nicer for me to travel to Edinburgh.

Pat could you let me know the outcome as going over to Newcastle takes about the same time. There would be nice as I would visit one of my daughters. She is at UNI there.

Thanks Deb

Hi all,

Had my band fitted in Prague, but today arranged to get my first fill with a Doctor in Manchester in a fortnight...£150. Anyone interested can contact the clinic on 01612482007 and ask for Linda.

Hope this helps anyone after a UK filler.

Cheers

Jeannie

Hi All,

I was banded on July 17th and just had my first fill today 18 Sept of about 4cc. I have a Swedish band called Thor and the Banders..ha ha. Seriously my Swedish band apparently had a little fill already in which I wasn't aware of. Mine was fitted in Prague but I had a refill in Manchester UK as it was nearer and the Doc made me aware of the partial fill when she checked under a Fluoroscope. I am on fluids for 48 hrs then mushie for 24 hrs. I can feel a tightness somewhere in my esophagus but not sure what it is, maybe the restriction?

Will let you know how I go on over the next few days.

Jeannie

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
