I am 25 hours and 35 minutes from my surgery. There is a lot to do today.

I am getting nervous and unfortunately I am getting a little scared. The excitement I feel out weighs it all!

Any last minute advise? Any advise on how to survive the clear liquid diet today?

Congratulations your new life is about to begin! When you go to the hospital wear very loose clothes. You will only be in them a short time and can wear them home. Take a pillow for your stomach when you travel home, GasX strips, toiletries, chapstick, phone, and some spare undergarments. That is all you will need. You will have to stay in the hospital gown because of the IV you can use a 2nd hospital gown for a house coat and they give you nonskid socks to walk around in. I was so loopy from the pain meds they give you that using my computer was a joke. I can't even remember watching the tv even though I know it was on. Ask your preop nurse for a private room if you can get one this is when they assign you your room. When you are post op ask your floor nurse for the flavored sponges they are fantastic for rehydrating your mouth and lips.........a lifesaver to me! The liquid diet sucks but honestly I drank diet soda all day with other things because I knew I was saying goodbye to it. I ate normal Soups but just ate the broth out of them and rahman broth is pretty good even though is has a lot of sodium in it. I really didn't care I was looking for some flavor. Your going to do great!! Keep us posted! :)

One more thing...........Don't trust a fart!!! :)

When you get there and you panic..And think in your brain that you must get the hell out of there before it happens.....Asking yourself why you are doing this and having second thoughts...

Breath deeply and remember why you are doing this...Relax and let it happen...might as well as you want it done, so don't waste your time panicking....

All the best..Keep us posted...K

When they take you to your room post-op (not the recovery room, your real room) ask to sit up in a chair instead of getting into your hospital bed if you possibly can. The more you can sit up, walk, etc. the faster the gas will get out and the quicker you will heal. Only get into bed if you really need to sleep.< /p>

Walk, walk, walk as much and as often as you can after the surgery. It will help with gas, your digestive system, your breathing and your overall healing process. I am sorry for the bad news, but I wish someone had warned me about it...the clear diet now is nothing compared to having to stay on it for another 7 days post surgery. That was the hardest part. BUT, it it gets easier everyday from that point. Hang in there, and congratulations!!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
