Leaving for San Diego tomorrow

Recommended Posts

I have two weeks off and its do or die for me. (Excuse the choice of wording there) I fly out to San Diego tomorrow and I will be staying at a nice Hotel on Christmas day. Will watch cable, sip broth and rest in style! The 26th I will picked up for surgery with Dr. Ramos Kelly. I am so scared about waking up in an amount of pain I cannot manage!! After reading posts on here it seems to vary from person to person. My biggest fear is a clot. I have Asthma pretty bad and a deviated septum, so breathing through my nose is hard and Im scared about going under.

I will update with details when the whole thing is over with. Did anyone else want to see the removed portion of the stomach after surgery? My husband laughed at me when I told him I was going to ask. Its part of me and Im curious about it I guess :)

What a great Christmas present to yourself! Don't worry you will do great! I actually had no pain, don't think that you will have pain either; positive thoughts. Best wishes to you, see you on the losers bench.

I kind of wish I asked to see a picture of my removed stomach, but I didn't think about it at the time.

I wanted to see mine but felt like a weirdo asking.

Good luck!

Make sure your family physician at home is aware of your surgery so they can help you if there's any complications. I had my sleeve in Mexico on the 14th and thankfully my physician was a support. I had an excellent sleeve done but there where complications that happened and I had to be hospitalized in the surgical ward.... What one experiences may or may not be the same! I'm still having huge issues only 50 mls of Water per day with no food for 13 days on..... I love my sleeve and would go through it all over again.Nothing in life is easy and there's always consequences...... My Dr gave me a cd of my old stomach and sleeve. So cool and the people in Canada where like wow we never seen this at the hospital cause it's a new facility. If you need any help or questions just message me! You will be fine ;0) oh yeah bring your laptop with you cause there will be a lot of Spanish tv.

Good luck with your surgery. I was sleeved on Friday at OCC and everything has gone well. Just got home today after a 5 hour drive from the airport. I've had almost no pain - more cramping and discomfort than anything. I was able to sleep on either side right away (haven't tried my stomach yet). Went shopping everyday and walked like crazy. It was nice to have three fellow sleevers and companions that spoke Spanish so we found some nice local shopping spots. I actually felt the best the day after surgery and then kind of tired the next two days. I took my last pain pill yesterday and I feel really good today. I never came close to getting enough fluids up until today, and I haven't even bothered counting Protein yet. Started drinking yogurt to replace normal flora as per the nut, and tomorrow I'll start working on Protein.

Merry Christmas...you will do great!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
