Everyone. I had surgery on. 12/12. Last night was my first night at home. I had really bad nausea and threw up 3 times. It was mostly all stomach bile. Has anyone else had this?

Pain is ok. Just soreness in my stomach. It is uncomfortable to drink. I'm lucky my mom is here pushing the liquids on me.

Pain the night after surgery was horrible.. Much worse than I expected.

How are you feeling?

The same as that, when I woke up after surgery I thought they were still operating on me, the pain was UNBELIEVABLE!! My incisions are sore and the gas comes and goes but all in all an improvement!! Have to say I'm kinda Hungary now though lol

I am 7 days post op. I was trucking alone on my mostly clear liquid diet. Well this am if took about a tablespoon of apple sauce to mix my beds in. That was a big mistake. My body i is not ready for puréed foods . I tried to get Protein broth down, Jello, etc even Water. Well I regurgitate it all .. I am afraid of dehydration. So I am still trying to sip water.,even if it will come up again. I felt I regressed two day. Oh well tomorrow will probably better.

My nausea seems to be getting under control. I am gassy a lot when I drink pretty much anything. I have progressed to Protein shakes due to my extreme weakness and they seem to be helping.

I'm really looking forward to feeling like myself again.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
