Hi I just wanted to say that having the sleeve was the best choice I could have ever made. I had my surgery July 8 th my start weight was 338 and now I am 212 as of today. It hasn't been without its challenges though. To me this was the most painful surgery I had ever been through. I ended up back in the hospital a few days after I was released because my body was rejecting the drain tube. Any one who says this is easy don't really understand what we go through. The way you eat and drink changes forever. You eat one bite too many your in excruciating pain. You drink too soon after eating your in excruciating pain. Then there's the dumping syndrome I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Most of the time I am fine and doing well, then other times I want to eat and can't. One bite or two and it hurts. Don't get me wrong it's not bad all the time. But it's a learning process. Your body is changed and you learn what you can and can't do. Most of the time the hunger in not there but sometimes you just wish you have one bite of something that you know you can't have. If anyone wanted to walk a day on our shoes I bet they would never say this was the easy way out again. As for me, my health was in jeopardy and I have twin 2 year olds to love for so that's why I had the surgery.

I'm 3 days till surgery, but I'm a former bandster so I can relate to what your saying from that aspect. With that said, I truly wish you continued success. Things will get easier in time and you will so enjoy running around with those kiddos which is all the reward. Best of luck. Congrats on losing over a hundred pounds thus far. That's amazing.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
