November 2013 Post Op

Recommended Posts

Thank you for the encouraging words! I'm 4 days out now. I don't have the shoulder discomfort during the day but I find that I still have to sleep in our oversized living room chair at night. I'm NOT a back sleeper and I have incredible discomfort if I lay on my side and I'm not even gonna try my stomach! But, I'm starting to actually understand when I am full and when my pouch is asking for something. What a trippy experience that is!!

Congrats on your 28 pound loss in just 20 days!! That's phenomenal!! I haven't even been listening to the scale the past few days because of the liquids I received in the hospital. I lost 7 pounds (in fluids) in the last two days I have been home so I'm ready to start losing! I hope I can lose that much!! You sound like you're doing a great job!!

I had the same problem as you did i had to sleep in a chair for about 5 weeks i also am one who sleeps on my side and it hurt to bad so the chair was my friend ...I had my surgery Oct 24th and my bed feels so great now ,,,,,,,, hope your having better luck .

I think it's just really hard in the beginning to get in requirements for Protein and fluids..I'm 3 wks out and it's just starting to get easier now..i literally bring a drink and snack wherever I go..I've been doing the drinkable yogurt because it goes down easy has protein and travels pretty well! I feel like I've brought home a newborn baby and I have to take care of it 24/7! Takes time to get used to this new lifestyle! !!

Congrats UK-Molly on your WL! I am down 37 pounds and my Husband is down 43 since our surgery date ❤11-11-13❤...we are so excited and amazed how great things are going. Now of course it would be me that hit a stall but that finally passed. We have been busy with Christmas decorating and shopping so that has helped a little more with exercise! Lol!

My surgeon and nutritionist are pretty strict..Each phase is 4 wks so I'm doing eggs, cheeses, greek yogurt, protein frozen fruit smoothies, deli ham or turkey shaved, and I will be adding in hot bran cereals and sweet potatoes..it gets boring but soon i will be doing salmon and other seafood. .i just bought birds eye cauliflower in cheese sauce because it's soft and I need my veggies. .lol..i try to get 800 calories a day and 60 grams of Protein. .what are u eating??

I was on the 18th.. I am eating a lot of shell fish.. 3 shrimp with a very tiny dab of cocktail sauce is a meal for me! Scallops and lobster .. Crab all are full of Protein and seem to help with any hunger! I also like Quest Protein Bars and laughing cow cheese wedge on a rice cracker. Got sick of cott cheese and eggs .. ( Target sells the Simply Pure rice cracker ). Sometimes I like string cheese wrapped in lean deli ham slice... How about you?

cheese sauce on cauliflower is way over the fat grams for me.. We must stay under 3 grams for any food and under 5 grams of sugar! But there really are many products that meet that need! I went to cott cheese and eggs, yogurt after day 7 due to the "runs ". Bummer but the new foods have corrected that with every change up! I have lost 45. # and am now having my second stall ( first lasted 11 days! ???? )

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
