My doctor says my UGI test shows thatI am have a hernia. I will need a scope that goes down my nose to see what is going on. Has anyone had one of these? What should I expect?

Hi, yes, I was told I had a hiatal hernia when they performed the EDG. I and my band installed today and the Doctor was to have fixed the hernia too.

My doctor indicated he often finds a hiatal hernia but they didn't perform any tests or procedures beforehand. Sure enough, there was a hiatal hernia. Glad to have that fixed as I think it was causing some difficulties, including some referred pain in my left chest/breast area. I don't think it changed my recovery in any way -- doing great here on day ten. Best wishes!

Did you have a endoscopy test done because is the only way I believe they can be sure about those hernias , I did one it was mandatory with my doctor before surgery good luck.

Yes, the EDG was an endoscopy It was mandatory. It should all be fixed now. I am doing well. One problem is it hurts if I cough, sneeze or bend. Time will heal all of that I'm sure.

I had the scope and you get knocked out, at least I did. It's really easy to deal with and I was in and out in like 2 hours.

I had my TNE (transnasal esophagoscopy). God knows I don't ever want to do that again unless I am knocked out. I am having pains in my stomach, throat is sore and I just feeling bad. Has anyone else had this done?

Hope you feel better. Popsicles help the throat pain
