4 days post surgery!

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I just had surgery on 10/15/13! SW 342lbs. I had an ileus post surgery, but Thursday night, I had a major "breakthrough" lol. Now, I'm dealing with chest pain....especially when I breathe and lay down. Not sure if it could be from my boobs (42h) or something else. Anybody else having these issues?

Any other October surgeries? Any suggestions on getting comfy on the couch or in bed with the scars?

Welcome to the losers bench, Carsetta! Many of us Octobers are discussing post-op in the OMG October 2013 thread in the post-op forum.

We are surgery buddies! I am also 4 days post op. I'm having trouble getting comfortable in bed, too, but a lot better than in the hospital. My solution so far is sleeping with two pillows. It raises my chest slightly and it seems to help. Good luck!

Aww yay! That's my only solution for now...you are still on liquid diet right?

I was until yesterday. I had my first appointment with my surgeon and had my drain removed. Since I was doing okay on liquids, they have moved me onto pureed. Still kind of scared to eat new stuff, and still trying to get Protein Shakes in. I need to go to the store for some unflavored greek yogurt and try that with Protein Powder mixed in. How are things on your end?

What drain are you talking about? I'm on full liquids...I had some chicken and gnocchi Soup at olive garden yesterday (minus the chicken and gnocchi of course) and it was delish!

Some surgeons leave in a drain at the lower left incision. I'm finding it harder to find stuff to eat. Guess I'm too lazy to blend anything! :P I had cream of potato Soup today and it was pretty easy. Also got some pudding in but feel guilty about it! I'm going to try tuna with fat free mayo tomorrow.

Hi, I'm new to this site but I had my surgery at the end of September. I was in the hospital for 3 days so I didn't have much of a problem, I just slept on my back, that was the best way for me. How are you doing otherwise? Where did you have your surgery done? I'm on Ca so I had mine done in North San Diego county. I hope your sleeping gets easier for you.

Take care,

Mish

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
