Calling March/April 2006 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I'm kerry and this is my first post on here.

I live in England but find this site a great resource and have been browsing for a while now.

I was banded in Belgium in March 2006, and am approaching my 1 year bandiversary

I was just wondering how everyone banded at a similar time to myself is getting on..........for example how much have you lost, and have you had any problems with the band.

I look forward to reading your replies

Kerry x

Hi Kerrry,

I was banded April 4, 2006 in Montreal. I am down 161 pounds and have had no problems. I added exercise in at the 1/2 way mark in my journey and now run 4 times a week. I am doing a 5 k in 3 weeks!!!

Good luck to you!

I was banded 3/1 last year. I have lost 130 lbs (give or take 2 lbs). I have gone from a size 34+ top/pant to an 18/20 top and 22 pant. I have not had any problems. Overfilled once, but that's a fill issue, not a band issue. I LOVE MY BAND.

I was banded 4/10/06 and am down 155 lbs. I'm having plastics later this month and am so nervous/excited about that part of the journey. I'm starting to feel like myself again for the first time in a long time. I've had no complications whatsoever (knock wood). I found my sweet spot back in June on my third fill and have coasted since. I love my band and am so happy I did this, nearly a year ago.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
