Hello Everyone' date=' Surgery date: 27 Oct 13. HW: 350 SW: 345 CW: 329 Getting worried now as cannot drink Water anymore. It is such a struggle. Feel full all the time. Eating is a struggle too. I have a fear of vomiting. Any suggestions / advice? Most welcomed. Help!!!![/quote']

My surgery was 10/21 and I am having similar problems- the first week was Clear liquids and I really struggled- Water really hurts and all the flavored waters too- mostly survived on broth and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup flavor. Supposed to be on full liquids this week- so ff milk, pudding, Greek yogurt got added in, but I have relly struggled to get much down- premiere Protein drink usually does ok...feels like everything just stays right in my throat! But I have vomited several times now, and it didn't hurt much, and there's not much there to throw up. Oh yeah, I have to burp all the time too. I realize this isn't of help to you, but you are not alone ! Try the broth to get ur fluids in, warm seems better on my swallowing.

For those struggling with Protein remember hydration is most important the first couple of weeks. Your body will use your glycogen stores before using any protein. By then you should have an easier time of it. Just get as much as you can thru Protein Drinks. I find the lite muscle milk is the easiest to tolerate and room temp is easier on the new tummy. It will get better!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
