Surgery 12/4 and I need a Buddy

Recommended Posts

I'm excited, anxious, scared, nervous, happy, sad..... well you name it, I have been feeling it. My surgery date is 12/4 and I'm looking for a friend that might be having surgery around the same time. I don't want to go thru this alone. I'd like someone to share my feelings with and help them cope as well.

You can start dieting anytime! The more you get off before surgery, the better off you'll be. Good luck and good health to you!

This is my date as well! I'm having mixed emotions too. Mostly nervous, and every time I think about it I get butterflies in my stomach. D'oh lol

I am December 2nd. Right now more excited than nervous but I am sure that will change as things get closer! Would love a couple of buddies that first week of dec!

My date is also Dec 4!!

I'm excited and nervous. I'm terrified about the pre op diet and have been eating more lately (and gained a few lbs) in anticipation of it. Has anyone else experienced this?

I gained before attending orientation... But since orientation I lost 14 lbs in two weeks... But now I'm stuck... I have to lose 10 to get my surgery scheduled and then 5 more before surgery and I'm stuck!!!! My dr won't let me do a 2 week liquid diet yet... They want me eating real food. . Ugghhhhhhh 10 lbs should be easy but I'm not doing so good :-(!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
