Insurance submitting today and I'm freaking out!

Recommended Posts

I've been hunting my surgery scheduler down for the last week to make sure she submitted my insurance papers. My surgeon wants me to lose 25lbs before he'll do the surgery but I want my approval in place since it changes over at the end of the year so time is if the essence.

Well when I talked to her (scheduler) yesterday she explained to me that she'd been backed up with trying to fill Dr. Terricana's surgery slots but she was glad that I stayed on her. She went on to say that if it gets approved this week she can put me straight on the docket.

That's what freaked me out. On the phone I was cool but I had a timeframe for this 25lbs and so far I'm right on schedule, 8lbs in 8 days (with 22 days left before I see the nut again), then I figured i'll have to do the 2 week diet which would bring me the last week in November. I was cool with that as long as I know I was approved. Now, I feel that I'm thrown off guard, even though I've been working on this since March 2013.

I guess I'm going to have all type of feelings as this gets closer....and 'trust' I'll be posting about em.

I will say that I have been strong on myfitnesspal.com and it has really help me stay aware of what I'm eating. My name on there is "Mswisdom70" and I need all the friends I can get.

I totally didn't take it seriously until we submitted everything to the insurance. It got REAL real quick! You are in for exciting times!

mswisdom,

I know how you feel. I remember when I heard the words from my ins. co. that I had been approved. There was excitement, anxiousness, butterflies in my stomach. The feelings came again when I got my official surgery date, and again when I attended my pre- and post-op diet class. I am having my surgery this Friday at 7 a.m. and not really nervous at this time. I am a revision patient. The plan is to remove my lap band and perform the sleeve in the same procedure. My biggest fear is that my doctor won't be able to do both procedures at the same time, and I will have to wait 12 additional weeks for the sleeve. There isn't anything I can do to lessen the chance, and my doctor won't know until I am on the table and they look inside. If I have to wait, that's the way it will be, I would like to have it all done in 2013 since I have met my deductibles. Hopefully, by Friday afternoon, this will be a nonisssue. I have made up my mind, done my research and know this is the right decision for me.

I'm sure you will experience a lot of emotions before yoursurgery. Good luck. I'm sure you will do fine.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
