Or anyone with personal experience this subject.

I'd like to get a chemical facial peel while I'm out from work recovering from my VSG in 11 days.

I am going to Mexico and they do peels for quite a bit less than here in California.

Was thinking I could get a peel the night before surgery and get it over with. But someone just commented not to even shave prior to surgery (infection risk). So would a peel be an infection risk? I've never had one before. Hoping for a medium grade peel. Should I wait Til after surgery? But often times, being on antibiotics makes it so you can't get these type of cosmetic procedures. What do you all think? Should I wait? If so how long?

I was not on any antibiotics after surgery so I don't see that being a problem. As for the peel, I don't think I would risk it before surgery, thats a lot of shock to the system. But if you have a few days left before going home I would go for it. I am family practice, OB nurse so skin is not my forta but I did break out into a horrible rash about 2 weeks after my surgery that was miserable and painful. Not sure what it was from but the doc I work with thought it was from the tubing from surgery the way it went across my neck. Good luck

Oh I wonder if it's just the Mexico patients that get post op antibiotics???

In the states you get them in recovery. Ancef and flagyl. In Mexico the give you antibiotics to take post op.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
