Beef Jerky anyone?

Maybe a strange question but i was just wondering if any post op people have any experience eating beef jerky? I am still pre-op but this happens to be one of my all time favorite snacks (plus i know its pretty high in protein). Any problems with it going down or chewing it? is this a good snack option?

  • Jack Links are exactly what I fell in love with. Wish you can get them in bulk

  • "Non-offensive"?! I hear the kangaroo jerky is pretty obnoxious, but being Australian that's expected! Beef, buffalo, turkey - either would be a good place to start.

I always always have a bag of Jack Links Turkey Tender Bites on hand. 11 grams of protein per 1 ounce serving. Thats pretty good for only 1 ounce of food.

I love beef jerky and eat it almost daily as a snack and occasionally as an addition to a meal.. Only thing is it is rather expensive by the ounce.. Higher than steak by the pound.. I think it is about 1.18 per ounce or 18.88 a lb.. holy cow! hahaha.. still going to eat it though.. it is a good snack

A beef jerky outlet store? please excuse me while i wipe the drool from my mouth! Im glad my fave snack is safe!

You can order from them :D: http://www.dallasjerky.com/

Beef jerky, turkey jerky, chicken jerky, they even have bacon and pulled pork jerky now!!

I LOVE IT.

It is absolutely perfect for an on-the-go snack.

I didn't start on it until I was about 2 months out, but once I did, I didn't stop!!

Whats a good non offensive Jerky for us that have never had it?

Sam's sells several different kinds of "Pounder" size jerky bags - it's much cheaper that way then trying to buy at regular stores.

They also have a big bag of smaller, roughly 100 calorie bags. I keep one in my desk drawer at work.

I tried the Krave turkey jerky, 80C/9g Protein per oz., and it was tasty (basil citrus - yum!). I liked it because it was softer than most, but it does have more sugar than I'd like.

The Oberto factory store is about a mile away and cheaper. I'll have to find that bacon jerky!

Jerky? OFFENSIVE??? *gasp*

BLISTERED BE THY TONGUE!!

Here's a recipe for ground beef jerky. I'm going to try it soon. http://wellnessmama.com/2201/ground-beef-jerky/

I make my own jerky. Soooo much cheaper, fresher and better tasting, IMO!!

Do you use ground beef or like sliced beef?

Ground beef. I use a dehydrator along with this gizmo.
