Waiting for Holiday Break!

Recommended Posts

Soooo I am calling tomorrow to see if I am approved (which I am 99% sure I am) and hopefully schedule my surgery!! I am a teacher and am needing it done during Christmas break :)

AMYWAYS, I'm just totally freaking excited and cannot wait to lose this weight and hopefully feel way less pain in my every day life.

I am in the same boat. I am trying to get everything in order to have surgery over break. If I can't then I will have to wait until summer. I will find out in the next week or so if I am a December sleeve or a June sleeve. Good luck!

I'm in that boat too- however if it doesn't pan out during the holiday break then I will get surgery as soon as possible- putting my life on hold and my needs last is what got me here in the first place. There are plenty of substitute teachers in our district. The students will be fine.:-)

I will be going out a week before break & returning the Monday after my students return for the New Year. I work as a counselor at a school based youth services program within a high school. For me it's basically now or never, we operate a summer program transitioning 8th grades into 9th grade.

I am going to try for the school break too. I work at a college and surgery is scheduled for Dec 16 right after finals the back to work right after new years. I hope there are no complications because they will put surgery off till Dec 31.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
