This year will be 2 years for me. YAY! Something I have noticed in the 2 years of having my band, is that when the weather changes to extreme temps such as very cold or extreme heat, my band will tighten ALOT. Also, when I travel and there are elevation changes, there is also a very big change in tightness. Just something I have noticed. I have mentioned this to my surgeon and also a fellow lap band friend and she noticed the same thing. I usually have be more aware to avoid stuck episodes during these times.

Does anyone else notice this as well? Just curious and would love to hear from others.

I have been banded over 8 years and many long term lap banders report the same thing, tightness with elevation and temp changes too.

I just learned to deal with it and adjust my eating accordingly. I never required an unfill though, if you are extremely tight to the point of not getting liquids down you probably need to see your surgeon.

I have not noticed any difference in the level of restriction of my band with the change of seasons, or changes in altitude.

My home is located at over 5,000 ft in elevation, and I am currently visiting at a beach. I feel the same level of restriction in both environments. Travel by air has also not changed my level of restriction.

What I have noticed will increase restriction is the amount of stress in my life. As stress goes up, so does my restriction.

Just another way to prove that we are all individuals, and no two Bandsters will have an identical journey!

Thanks! No, I am currently not having any issues. I have a Allergan 10cc band and currently my level is 4.85cc and I am totally in the green zone and loving it! It has taken quite a few tweaking to get to the right spot. The temps and elevation has been just noticeable. I was just curious as to if other banders have noticed or experienced this. Thanks for the feedback!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
