Hi, I am only 3 weeks post op tomorrow and feeling hungry!

When do you typically get a first fill? How did you feel after that first fill? Did it help? How many cc's did you get?

It is normal for you to be hungry- your band is empty. The first fill sounds like a lot- I think I got 4cc- but the tubing connecting the port to the band needs to be filled. The first fill typically is 6 weeks post op. Everyone has a different experience with fills. For me it took until the third one to get any restriction. Certainly be prepared to not feel any difference after the first fill, but maybe you will be one of the lucky ones. Good luck!

Mine was 4 weeks post op.

The size of the fill depends upon the size of your band as well. Some bands will max out at 4cc.

Thanks for the answer! My band is completely empty right now. They had to remove the 3.5 cc they put in during surgery because I was too swollen.

Try not to stress the fill. They put the Fluid in the same way they took it out. Hopefully they go slowly and don't overfill you too much on the first go around. Ask your Dr. how much Fluid they are putting in and what size band you have.

I don't believe the are using the 4cc bands anymore. Today they are either 10cc or 14cc.

I had my first fill today. Band was fitted on 12th sept this year. I know currently have 4.8 in a 14ml band! Next fill is booked for 3 weeks time. I haven't experienced any issues today since the fill. ????

Holy cc batman. They're making 14cc bands now? Now I'm really feeling old. But I love my little 4cc band.

Hi JennyBean,

4 weeks post op is about time for most who are hungry, and I am assuming you have the 10cc band like I do.

I started off with .4cc in my band, and I felt nothing with my first fill, but you may be different if you had to get some priming Fluid removed, so in that case you may want to start a littler lower and let your surgeon determine how much to give you.

Good luck

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
