So I'm pretty sure I need a fill... Only 3 weeks out. I'm able to eat more than 1 cup (though I try not to) while still being hungry/not completely satisfied.

At three weeks out I'm assuming you are on a mashed diet? If so it is not intended to fill you up, only to be gentle on the stoma while your stomach continues to heal. Only when you are on complete solids will you really know if you need a fill, until then unfortunately you will have to keep track of what you are eating and try to stay fill will drinking as much calorie free liquids as possible all day long.

at 3 weeks post op I'm not sure if you should get a fill or not.. My surgeon would not do a fill until 6 weeks post op and then it was another few weeks after that for me.. I was losing at a sufficient pace and did not feel hungry in between my meals so he waited..I found that drinking helped me .. sometimes it is more head hunger than real hunger... of course as always you go with with your Dr. recommends...Good Luck.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
