I'm Gonna Do IT!!!!!!!

I think that I am going to go for it. I talked to my husband about it, and he said "If that's what you want to do, go for it." (Not that I needed his approval or anything).

I still have some fears, but hopefully those will fade over time. I have been thinking so much about it since my last post. I thought about it so much, not just the surgery itself, but the fact that there is a foreign body inside of me, that once I made myself sick to my stomach!! HA HA HA

My mom says that I am obsessing over it too much and to relax. I still have some what ifs, but when I talk to the right doctor, he/she may be able to tame them.

I just hope that I am making the right decision. I weigh somewhere around 245. I am 5'6". When I look in the mirror I see a person that I used to never be.

I just have one problem. My husband is getting a vasectomy reversal in March. I want one more baby. I only have one now. I know I will gain some weight. I wanted to loose some before I got pregnant (if it will work).

Has anyone had lap band then got pregnant? Can they remove it, then put it back on? Is there a danger each time they do it?

Just wondering, and what better place to wonder that a board filled with experts in my eyes.

Heather, we're certainly not experts! Just goofy, every day overweight people that have gotten a chance to live healthier and happier. I don't think the band will bother you any physically. I can feel the port when I stand up and rub it, but other than that, I'm not even aware of it. I like to think of it as my little lifeline - helping me live better and longer. I guess it's a little like someone having a hip or knee replacement. That's a foreign object but the good of it outweighs that. My husband had open heart surgery a few years ago. In his x-ray, you can see the metal wire that they laced his rib cage back together with. It will always be there, and was part of his healing process.:D

Wow how did you get your husband to agree to the vasectomey, vasectomey reversal and the band??? He's a definate keeper. I got my husband to agree to the vasectomy and the band, he wouldn't go for the reversal. I guess 2 out of 3 isn't too bad! Good luck.

Debbie

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
