Turmeric for bone/joint pain?

Recommended Posts

I bought some today at whole foods and was wondering if anyone has taken it or had good results with it? I am also taking Joint juice (glucosamine and chrondroitin). I have hip pain and am seeking relief for a 5k I'm doing on the 21st of April.

Tumeric is an anti-inflammatory. Pre-surgery I used to make a tumeric smoothie with orange, tsp of tumeric greek yogurt and almond milk. I can't attest to whether it worked or not. I also started taking Water aerobics as well. If anything the change in diet & exercise both played a part.

Either way, it's a great spice. If you are looking to cut down on adding salt, it's a nice one to add to the arsenal.

you shouldn't take turmeriv before surgery..as with most anti-inflammatories it can cause issues with clotting and cause more bleeding after surgery. I am about to have vsg..and turmeric has done wonders for me and my joints but I'm trying to find out if it's acceptable to take after vsg.

I would ask my doctor. I had no problems with it, but I wasn't taking massive quantities. I just used maybe a quarter tsp in my smoothies and sprinkled it on food while cooking. It may work differently since it's all natural.

BTW - OP is post op so I think she's fine.

I'm a big believer of turmeric from joint pain to abscesses. Unfortunately my dr said no after surgery because it acts as a NSAID does. I'm on the fence about his opinion. You should definitely consult your doctor.

Turmeric is a great anti-inflammatory and known world wide for that. I have been on a product called Zeal Wellness that has that in it, as well as, many other anti-inflammatories. It is a unique, all in one, blend of whole foods, that is recognized by the FDA as a functional food. It is the only one on the market that has stabilized rice brand in it. Add me to Facebook and I will put you on the personal stories discussion group where nearly 15,000 are sharing testimonies and asking questions about Zeal.

My pain is almost non-existent now and my bad knee can now swim laps for hours at the Y. I have been on this for a little over a year.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
