2 WEEKS POST OP NEED HELP/ADVICE

Recommended Posts

I'm 2 weeks post op and I'm on purée food. Had 4 oz of mashed potatoes with a boiled egg only egg white mashed into the potatoes, a Protein Shake, tried some tuna in Water with light mayo and couldn't eat it felt like if a bomb just dropped into my stomach, that keeps happening almost every time i eat, is this normal?? Feel like I'm not loosing weight at all. Lost 22 pounds the first 10 days but nothing else after that. Please give me any advise I don't know what's happening. I don't eat that much and try to drink as much as I can but I don't know why the weight loss stopped, I'm not consuming not even 800 calories per day. What can be happening??

Hopefully things will be better. I just hate the fact that I was loosing weight so fast and now things have slowed down, even though I still see changes in my clothes. Maybe loosing inches instead of weight now. From what I read here people go thru this all the time so probably things will get better. Soon. Lol thanks

Hi! I am on puréed too for one more week. My surgery was also 2/4/13. How much longer are you on puréed foods? I find that I have to eat slow and it has to be puréed nicely- some liquid. We have been using chicken stock to think it out. Last night I had puréed chicken breast with sphagetti sauce and a tsp of Parmesan cheese. My portion size is usually 1/4 cup maybe 1/2 cup.

Hang in there girl!!

Amy :)

I will tell you what everyone else told me and still tells me. Give it time. The one thing you will learn going through this journey is that you will have days and weeks where you only lose 1 pound or 2 pounds or none at all. Your body is trying to get use to what you are doing to it and it doesnt understand. It takes a long time for it to catch up but it will come off if you are doing what you are suppose to be doing and exercising and drinking your Water. Try and get through the tough times of not losing its hard but you will lose. The biggest thing is to find patients.. Good luck girl you can do this

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
