i guess i'm a "real" bandster now, i've PB'd

Recommended Posts

old habits died a hard hard death tonight. i've been banded 4 months and tonight was my first PB..

we went for pizza. i wasnt too hungry, but i had some bread. just a tad bit of tightness in my chest. i was fine...

waited about 10 mins for the pizza. first piece, no problem.

i commented to DH that i get sooo hungry later in the evening that i am just going to eat 1 more piece.

less than half way thru that piece, i get more of a tightness... hmmm ... better slow down a bit.

i take a nice big gulp of tea (i normally do not drink with my meals but since i worked out right before dinner i was SO thirsty).. major tightness ... MAJOR tightness. i put my arms up (read that somewhere)... still tight in the chest. burp a little bit. rush to the bathroom, cannot even think about even closing the door and or locking it ...

it wasnt THAT bad but i dont want it to happen again ...

so now what? am i on liquids for a day or so??

Hi J, This is a side topic, but I just went to your site and saw a picture of your daughter. She is a dolly!:biggrin1: Do you plan to adopt another child?

Id say liquids for a day, yes and the frequency of pbing is dangerous for the band so no you dont want to have that happen again, right? Your doing great, four months and this is your first pb? AWSome

Wow, four months is good from what I hear! I PB'ed on my first scrambled egg. That was Saturday morning. I was so excited about eating something that was not liquid (and having company to talk to) that I was eating FAST and talking all at the same time. Three bites and it hit me, the PB'ing I have been reading about! Now, I am sure to be concentrating when I eat something, even when it is mushy!

My doctor requires liquids for 24 - 48 hours after a PB eppisode.

I'm not looking forward to my first one either. I'm glad you survived it!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
