Why must a person be tried so much, not given a break. Over the last 2 years anything that could happen, I would say it pretty much has.

3 months ago I had to have my best friend put down. This morning I wake up to his great great grandson being hit by a car. He was my baby. A great big cuddle bug and loved by many. Now this week I will be bringing him home in a beautiful little wooden box. I have 4 of his little babies here with me going on 8 weeks old, tomorrow. Oh god I loved Poseidon. When is all the sorrow going to end?? I think I'm doomed or trying to figure out why I must be tried over and over again. Why me? Why my daughter?? Hating this thing called life!!!!

So sorry for your loss, Gen. That is just awful and my heart goes out to you. Please stay strong! You're right you have had more than your fair share and have been tested much more than many. God must have really big plans for you!

Any suggestions on having more energy? I am 5 weeks out. I exercise 5-7 nights a week. I get my fluids. My protein is around 60-65. Maybe it is just my body getting used to my work hours. I have to be up by 5am. I started back this past Monday.

Don't forget those vitamins, too! So many things could be contributing, but I was really exhausted for about two weeks after returning to work. If it doesn't get better check with your doctor.....could be low iron?

Going back to work after so much time off w the surgery is difficult and draining. Definitely will need more rest than usual the first week or two after you go back to work.

Ha ha ha' date=' it is funny how ours minds go there about our surgeries, "sure he did the bypass"? Cuz I had that same question at one point in time. It's the denser protein and also fiber that will keep us full. I won't touch potato either, or breads. Im struggling w whether or not to eat pastas, if they are the whole grains. But that is my personal limits for myself.

I'm with Gen on the carbs. I know every doc and nut gives different instructions but I noticed that the week I ate potatoes I gained a pound so I didn't last week and lost 3. I now make mashed cauliflower instead. It easy and tasty. We all have our ups and downs. Make sure your not retaining fluid also. Being on dialysis I have to compare my input to my output to know if I'm retaining. U may need a diuretic if u r.

It is great that you made the switch from mashed pots to mashed cauli :-) that is a great step towards better health and limiting starches. I believe the every now and then starch is ok if you're a potato lover, but if you can live w/o them in your life then yippee. I honestly can't remember when I last bought potatoes.

Also could use some nice cheese, FF sour cream or whatever you use to flavor your mashed pots w the cauliflower.

Sorry! That's terrible! I've been having best friend problems this weekend as well. My poor little weenie dog has a disc that is causing problems and we might have to do surgery on him. He is my baby and I can not put him down, he's only 5. If we have to have surgery going to cost me $5000 to $6000 and we don't have it. I am praying he gets better so we don't have to try to borrow money. So sad.

Gen,

I am soooo sorry! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your daughter. They say, whatever doesn't kill us makes us stronger. You are on your way to becoming Wonder Women! Try to stay positive. There is a light! I can't imagine losing my furry kids.

I bet cheese would be good. I sometimes eat a little grits. Morning, noon, or night it comforts me. I just read these blogs and try some of the things you guys suggest. My sister had the surgery nine years ago but she does things totally different. She is a sucker for deserts and she will cheat from time to time but she kept the weight off.

I hope he does too.

Thank you! I think he's doing better today. He's pretty drugged up though so hard to tell.

I'm so sorry. That is why I lost my big boy 3 mo this ago. He had these boney growths fusing his vertebrae together. Rimadyl will help his pain. Also try some glucosamine chondritin, that's what my vet told me to give him,ask your vet. He's young. My boy was older and at the top of the life span for boxers.

I'm sorry :-(

I got 51 g of protein today which is better than what I've taken in since hyster. Surgery. Although not doing well on liquids. Not even 32oz today :-( Running low grade temp due to dehydration setting in :-(

You'll get better. Just try to get more liquids tomorrow.

Trust me I heard it from my dad today cuz I've had difficulty eating and drinking. I know I won't heal as quickly if I don't eat and drink. But I can't help it. What I would like is a nice tea from McDonalds. Sounds odd but every morning going into work, I'd hit the drive thru for $1 unsweetened tea. Tea drinker here, not much of a coffee one
