Don,

Congratulations. I am still pre-op. how did you find the experience of recovering from surgery? I have surgery in two weeks and am nervous about the recovery (not stopping me, of course). Did you experience a lot of pain? How soon after surgery were you able to resume activities? Did you have a catheter and was it painful? I have to push myself to do some work 8 days after surgery (office work).

Wishing you continued success! Congratulations! Thanks for the inspiring photo!

John

Don, since surgery, do you have to stop and walk more often to prevent blood clots? My surgeon told me post surgery never to sit in a car or plane for more than two hours at a time. I drive 12 hours round trip every other weekend for family reasons. So now I stop at every rest stop and walk (pre-op, to learn about the future lifestyle). I also make sure when I fly (and i fly monthly 8-hour and 13-hour flights) to walk in the aisles at least every two hours. I also do leg exercises. What did your surgeon recommend?

Thank you so much for your insights!

i drive short distances for work usually 1hr tops each way then i have to get out of truck and do a few things to my trailer so i can dump the load so im constantly moving shifting steering cranking the canvas walking to back of trailer to ulock then relock it after load is dumped out and of course they recommend a lot of walking its not a easy journey but if you have a strong head yo can do this once you get thru the first few weeks it gets easier i would say the first month post-op is the toughest you will probably be on liquids and then move to mushy foods after 8 weeks move to solids

I drive a school bus so it's good to know at 3 weeks I can potentially go back. I took off 3 weeks. I have split shift am til 9 and pm at 2 so I should be okay I hope.

If you have no complications 3 weeks should be a breeze driving school bus i went back and have to crank a canvas back manually and a few other physical thinks

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
