I stayed the same weight for 3 weeks. I think it was time for a change. Try some of these thing to get the weight loss jump started - decrease salt intake, increase Protein, no sugar - no carb, add form of laxative, and start or increase weight loss.

I think that we get so focused on this because our culture values the perfect body way too much. We begin to buy into this as young girls and it carries into our adult life. We may be overweight and are teased or lack male attention and through that process we devalue ourselves as less than perfect somehow flawed. Now we begin the process of losing weight and our brains are still convinced we are flawed and we struggle with success because perfection is not the result. We have flabby arms and hanging bellys way short of the ideal and we cannot see the body change as success because it is not perfection. I think the key to some of this for me at least is to not focus on our flaws' date=' hanging skin etc. but on the internal changes, the new self image we can construct and begin to affirm the positive changes we see. As overweight people we often become too self absorbed and perhaps need to look for ways to focus on others through activities, volunteer or social activities that will keep us other oriented and less worried about ourselves. Find our joy and the flaws will seem minor compared to our victories. At least ths has helped me deal with the thoughts I will never be skinny.[/quote']

Judid, well said!!!!!!!

I think it's more mental than physical. Being overweight I found a way to love my body, but made a choice to get healthy. You probably did too. But now that body is all changed. Find a way to love this body even if it doesn't lose another pound because what you have done is awesome. I'm 17 days out and hoping I do as well as you. :)

My surgeon simply told me that I will always be "chubby" unless I become a fanatic about exercise and eating raw vegetables. And being chubby is fine with me as long as I don't have health problems.

I do not know how chubby I will be. But I do not want to be super thin. I trust my surgeon's judgment. I have a body that will always be chubby.

Id like to think these docs don't know everything. I have seen some really hefty people become very thin. Don't sell yourself short. If you believe you will be chubby it will come true. Let the surgery show you your true size.

The surgeon did say that my body will find its own weight on its own. In fact, I have not yet set a target weight. My target is to get off of high blood pressure medication and high cholesterol medication. I want to stop the march towards diabetes which I am watching my other suffer horrible things from that could not even wish on an enemy (but I don't have an enemy). I want to have a better quality of life in my 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, etc. I plan to keep working into those later year

Omg Clairpooh that's what I keep thinking, someone close to me saw a pic of someone who loss 85 pounds and told me that I won't loose that much. Now from that day to this one is where I begin to think negatively of my progress. I too am scared that I had this expensive surgery and I will be the one to not get the maximum benefit. Now I know that's its up to me how well I succeed, but I'm praying that I continue to stay on the right the right track! I know it's a mental thing.

SD: 10/10/12, Converted from Lapband to RNY, HW (before band) 263, HW (RNY) 230, Preop 219, after surgery 223, current 201

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
