Hair Loss

Help. So much of my hair is falling out. I have really thick hair so it doesn't look any thinner. What do I do?

Take biotin 5000 mgs. I haven't had surgery yet but losing my hair now taking my thyroid medicine I am hoping the biotin works. Plus make sure you are getting enough protein in

Phewww so glad you said take the 5000 mg of biotin that is what I got. I started thinning about a year ago haven't had WLS yet so I wanted to kick start it before the surgery

Hair loss is my major fear with this surgery, I have been very diligent about my daily intake of protein, my surgeon say minium 64 grams /daily, I try to get in about 80. I am 6 months post op and no hair loss, I also take Biotin. Are you getting your daily protein in ?

I read this really interesting and informative article that I'd like to share.

http://bariatrictimes.com/2008/09/19/the-latest-on-nutrition-and-hair-loss-in-the-bariatric-patient/

I hope the link works. In a nutshell it says that within the first six months hair loss is probably due to Protein deficiency. After that it could be due to other nutritional deficiencies.

It also says there is no scientific proof that Biotin helps but I never read there was any harm in supplementing it.

My hair is falling out like crazy so trust me on this one, get your protein in! I'm back to 2 Protein shakes a day just in case, that gives me 60 grams on top of the protein I'm eating.

Great article. Thank you!!

What do you take in daily that gives you 80 grams? I'm struggling to get 30. Any advice would be great!

I take 10,000mcg of biotin and well over 80g of protein. Also use garnier fall fight shampoo, conditioner and spray with biotin.
