Anyone Else Have No Problems?

First off' date=' congrats on the no pain!!! Woo-hoo!

I have read where many women who have had this surgery, as well as having had a Cesarean Section, compare them and say the Cesarean was more painful. I have had a C-Sec and much like you were, was told to "slow down", "take it easy" and "stop with the laps around the maternity ward". LOL So I hope that my surgery goes just as easy as yours!

PS. During my C-sec, the nurses prepped for additional blood loss and had 2 anesthesiologists in the room...They said that us red-heads bleed more and need more anesthesia than the rest of the population. Did they do anything special in the OR for your surgery?[/quote']

Hehehe! I know - when I asked about the gym at my post-op, the NP looked at me like I was crazy. I told her I didn't want to lose any more muscle mass than I already have, as I pointed out the fat mass numbers on my oh-so-conveniently printed slips from the scale - that day compared to the one from pre-op. It does me no good to lose more muscle than fat!!

I can imagine that a c-sec would be more painful - much larger incision, and kind of rough handling!

I wish you the best of luck in the OR! My red is a bottle job, lol, so I don't know from personal experience - but I have heard that from other sources as well.

I do know that I personally have a very high tolerance for pain medications (found that out before I had my spine surgery, and when I had a kidney stone - the E.R. doc couldn't believe what they shot me up with didn't knock me into wonderland, lol) - but I also have a very high tolerance for pain. So... I guess it sort of evens out? Lol

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
