Hi everyone!

Let's talk about the procedure itself. So for those who already had the RNY, could you guys tell me from star to finish how the surgery team prepares the pt. Meaning; you go to the hospital, the open the IV, star hydrating you, then the catheter and etc...I'm mostly scare about the foley catheter b/c I had a bad experience during my C-Sec that part wasn't easy lol....the more info the better. I'm sched for 04/02/2012 a week away so you all can tell that I'm anxious, nervous, excited and had questions like crazy lol.

Thanks!

I had mine 12/21/11. They did a catheter only in surgery for me, meaning put it in and took it out while I was still out!! Was in surgery for about an hour, then recovery for awhile. As soon as I got to my room they got me up and had me walk, which I did every hour or so. I only stayed one night and got to go home the next day. It was not too bad. The walking helped with the gas pains a lot! Good luck to you

Omg! I totally understand you about the cath....The catheter was the worst part of the surgery if you ask me! But they did do it after i was unconscious ....but mine was left in until the next day. The catheter wasnt all that awful but if i had to pick the worst thing out that would be it. But only because i prefer to NOT be catherized....in other words you will be fine and best wishes to you. Please keep us informed of how everything is going.

I was put to sleep first don't remember any of it. All I remember is the doctor and staff loved my toenails...put some humor into it to relieve some stress. Good luck!!

I had my surgery on 12th march . Went in in the morning. They did my vital gave me a blood thinning injection in my belly and did blood tests. Within an hour I was taken to pre-op. I remember then putting me on the bed and putting my feet in the weird things to stop blood clots and then they set up iv and I was told to have a nice sleep.

Woke up in recovery with no cath which I was pleased about but just had iv for fluids and pain control. Was taken to intensive care which is policy in the hospital was was constantly monitored, not that I remember much about it ( morphine does wonders)

Then they had me walking that night back to my room which was a few doors away to go to the bathroom.

Just lots of walking and sipping Water. Lol.

Hope this helps I the same as you and wanted to know everything before hand. Hope this helps.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
