Had my sleeve surgery one week ago and have found it all easy except the first night with nausea. Never used pain meds and the nurses didn't believe me with I said I had no pain. They still kept me two nights instead of one. Completely off Diabeties medicines which completely blows my mind.

The past three weeks of liquids has been ok, I guess. I'm getting ready to start the pureed food portion and really looking forward to it. I want to have the taste of some real food in my mouth and not just broth or Protein shakes.

I went back to work on this past Wednesday (half days) and my husband had taken the week off so he drove me back and forth. I found I made it through the few hours, then came home and was exhausted. My office is very supportive and there were no issues there. Next week I'm going to try driving myself and do full days.

25 lbs down (17 pre-op, 8 in one week). I've decided to only weigh myself on Fridays. Some in my office have said they can see it already. Not sure I believe it, but nice of them to say none the less.

Not going to see my family until Thanksgiving. Really hoping to be at least 60+ more lbs down by then. I think that is more than attainable.

I hope others who are thinking about this investigate all your options, understand the risks and all possible side effects. I had and was prepared for the worst. My story so far has been smooth, but I won't forget all the things that can still happen.

I already wish I had done this years ago. :)

I had surgery one week ago too and Iv also been very lucky with recovery. I went back to full days on Tuesday which may have been a little soon but all and all Iv been okay with the exception of being really tired of an evening. I'm still on liquids for another 3 weeks then move to 4 week of mushy and 4 weeks of soft foods. Glad to hear you are doing well ! Best of luck to you !!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
