  • I talked to the NUT yesterday and asked her about the pre-op diet and she said I will have to do a liquid diet for 7 to 10 days. So how do I get the 7 days and not the 10 days? lol.

Does everyone going through this surgery have to do a liquid only diet before the surgery? Or does it depend on the doctor?

Ree from what I see it depends on the diet. The purpose of the liquid diet is to shrink your liver so when it's tine for surgery it would make things easier. My dr has you do a liquid diet for 2 weeks post surgery.

Ajayb I was allowed fat free yogurt, diet soda, 1 cup of raw veggies a day, all the broth I wanted, water, protein shakes, 1 cup of canned fruit, and SF pudding or jello.

on my pre-op diet I was drinking Barratric advantage meal replacement shakes. I lost 30 plus pounds in 2 weeks.

Wow..that is amazing.but what did they taste like? I have a seriously sensitive pallet. I can't get anything down that is suspect...lol. I had to retake my gastric emptying series 5 x's because I kept gagging back up the liquid they wanted me to swallow...ugh!

To be honest, not to good, but my nutritionist provided me mixing examples with the different flavors. The best was the chocolate flavor mixed with fat free milk, banana and ice. Next was the chocolate flavor mixed with fat free milk, Peanut Butter and ice.I lived off those two for the majority of my two weeks.
