I am writing these things down, because I am sure there will be times early post op when I wonder "why did I do this?"

This is why:

2. The feeling of my fat middle squooshing out when I sit down.

3. swolly feet

4. Feeling like the fattest person in the room

5. Being the fattest person in the room

6. Feeling invisible

7. Feeling self conscious and size conscious

8. My stomach touching the table in a restaurant booth

9. Not fitting comfortably in a movie theatre seat

10. Looking at myself in pictures

11. Feeling ugly

12. Body aches, knee aches, hip aches

13. shoes that used to fit, and now are too tight

14. Low energy

15. Not turning heads

16. Looking in the mirror naked

17. clothes that no longer fit.

18. Not being able to wear my rings

    I echo all of the above, and would add: * going to any doctor's office and the nurse takes one look and says, "hang on, I'll have to get the large cuff for you."

  • I will not miss: 1. Not being able to cross my legs 2. Being out of breath walking up stairs 3. Not being able to bend over to tie my shoes 4. Not getting on rides with my son because I'm afraid

  • Avoiding water parks with my daughter because I'm too fat Not doing outdoorsy things because I need to stay "covered up" Being offered unsolicited advice about how to lose weight Being the "fat

Great list' date=' I identify with so many of the above..I will add -not being able to see all the body parts I'm trying to shave without lifting up my fat rolls[/quote']

Reading through the list for the first time. This one is a HUGH one!

Never finding clothes that I thought I looked good in, ever. Now I grab size large anything and rock it out. I had an athletic fit shirt on this past Saturday and got a lot of compliments on my body.

I wont miss stress incontinence. I used to attribute it to giving birth but I think' date=' as it gets worse with weight, that it's the extra weight. I wanna laugh, cough, sneeze, exercise etc...without worries.[/quote']

Yes please!

That feeling when it's cold out and my husband offers me his jacket and I refuse it because well, it would never have fit anyways.

I, too, feel like I may need to remind myself after surgery when I'm not feeling so good or want to give up about why I really wanted to do this in the first place, so here are some of my things:

1.) Sitting on a chair in a restaurant and hearing it squeak and wondering if any minute now the legs are going to give out!

2.) Going through those STUPID turn-style things in the subway or into a concert and SQUEEZING sideways to get through, while all my friends have gone through and are waiting for me.

3.) eating out and wondering if everyone ELSE is looking at what I'm eating and judging me.

4.) my mom being thinner than I am!

5.)Sitting in the chairs on an airplane, in the theater or at plays and feeling so squeezed in and worried about bothering the person next to me

6.) Speaking of airplanes! SEATBELTS BARELY buckling :(

7.) Not going on amusement rides because I'm afraid I won't fit.

8.) Always being HOT, even in the winter when I should be cold!

9.) Working out for only short periods of time because I'm out of breath, sweating, bright red and in pain.

10.) My family asking me at thanksgiving in front of EVERYONE "Rachel, do you really need that piece of pie?" :(

I'm looking forward...not back, not down...The best is yet to come for me!

Yes, shopping! How could I forget that one?!

:faint:

My answer to that would be, "Do you REALLY need those front teeth!?!?!"

I will not miss going into a store like Forever 21 or Charlotte Ruse with my teen daughter or to buy for her and people stare like what am I doing on there because nothing in there would even come close to fitting me or they stare and ask am I looking for something.

Same' date=' except for me it's with my best friend (who is a tiny size 0)... It's always been fun to help shop for her, so I can't wait until when we can shop in the same stores!!

My grandfather and aunts and uncles would ask me that. I remember as young as 11 or 12 when I wasn't even *that* fat at that age!!! I would just leave the room crying and go home and binge... Even when it happened 2 years ago when I was 27! And that is why I am not going with my family this year for Thanksgiving . I have my surgery scheduled for February and I can't wait to go back next thanksgiving and see what they have to say then! ;)

In addition to all the things you listed:

1. Not feeling like a failure as a Mom

2. Looks and stares

3. Not fitting into roller coaster seats

Things I will NOT miss about being fat (AKA the main reason I'm doing this)

1. The high risk of a heart attack

2. The high risk of a stroke

3. Diabetes

4. High Cholesterol

5. The chance of not being around to see my kids grow up

Everything else is just gravy.

1. Pretending I hate the beach and summer just because I am too hot to be outside since i only wear pants and short sleeves

2. Not being able to run around w my daughter (6yrs old)

3. When my daughter see's a diet pill commercial she says "you should get that cause your fat"

4. Parents asking me should you really be eating that

5. Not being able to wear some boots cause they wont fit over my calf

6. Not being able to wear heels for very long

7. Seeing pictures ppl take of me (when i take them i can get a good angle n not look at fat)

8. Looking in the mirror naked...yuck

9. When I am talking to a cute guy im wondering if the only reason he wont like me is cause im fat

I will not miss going into a store like Forever 21 or Charlotte Ruse with my teen daughter or to buy for her and people stare like what am I doing on there because nothing in there would even come close to fitting me or they stare and ask am I looking for something.

Every time!!!!

So many:

1. Adding up the weight of everyone in the elevator to make sure I don't push its capacity above limit;

2. Pretending I want to stand up because I can't possibly fit in your plastic lawn chair;

3. Not eating at a function because my dress won't fit post meal;

4. Feeling the fold above my elbow hit the back of my forearm;

5. Underwear rolling down below my belly;

6. Apologizeing for my very existence at the grocery store;

7. Not being sure I am "clean" everywhere;

8. Being the person that by my presence gives everyone else permission to order dessert;

9. Being a non-threat to insecure women!

If I'm completely honest with myself MOST of these were mine too!!
