Single mom thinking of going to see Dr Illan
So I'm a single mom as well of a very active girl and I was able to do everything I did before the surgery. I seriously had no pain except for the first 12 hrs. I was so gassy from the gas they blow up your stomach with it was painful because the gas pressure. But I brought lots of gas x strips which helped a lot. My incisions had no pain at all, no pain when I was bending moving nothing. IT was the easiest surgery ever and I've had quite a few. I had my surgery Jan of 2014 and I'm still doing great and love having my body back to a place I feel comfortable. Now I didn't go alone but the way the experience was I wouldn't be worried to go alone if I needed to go back alone I wouldn't mind. My dad was totally opposed to it and super skeptical and he went with me and he was really surprised by how great the entire experience was.

3 years post sleeve and stuck
So I was sleeved in Jan 2014 and I initially got down to 145lb and ever since then I just fluctuate between 145-150lbs. I really want to get to 125lbs but I can't figure it out!! The scale won't move no matter what! I am working out about 2-3 times a week and eating better. Anyone else have trouble and figure out how to get the scale moving again?

Sent home with picc line...nothing by mouth for 2 weeks?
I went to Dr. Illan in Mexico and while I was there a patient had a lap band revision and sleeve done in one procedure and I just had the sleeve and we were both out and about drinking the same things and having chicken broth etc...

Esophagus pain (I think!)
Yes it does! I know exactly how your feeling I had surgery on the 17th and the 1st week everything i drank hurt and I could open my mouth and this gurggling sound would come out like a clogged drain going down is what it reminded me of. It is because your esophagus is inflamed and I took one anti imflammatory and started getting some relief. But now I am 13days out and I no longer have that feeling. The only thing I get sometimes now is a rumbling in my tummy when I eat creamy Soups that are a little too thick.

Leaks or other complications.?
I was just sleeved by Dr Illan on the 17th and I am in a FB group with his other patients or soon to be patients, none of which had any complications. If you are on FB you should request the group and feel free to ask as many questions as you like we are all here to help. It is Team illan

Updates from former Dr. Garcia & Dr. Illan patients?
I am a patient of Dr. Illan also! Im 26yrs old 5'3 and started at 230lbs had surgery on Jan 17th 2014 and i now weigh 210lbs only 12 days later. It was an amazing experience! The doctors were so great and caring even the nurses. Also Omar goes out of his way to take care of you and your guest. I went with my dad who was nervous and against the surgery but once we got there we met two other patients we both felt more comfortable. After my urgery I never felt any pain (except for some gas pain) and I never took any pain meds. Soon as I was out of the hospital we were out shopping and touring TJ, thanks to Omar! I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks Baja Bariatrics

Is anyone scheduled in January for Dr Illan ? would like buddies
I am having surgery with Dr Illan on Jan 17th!
-
I just can't believe it!
I have an exclusion on my policy as well and the first time they told me it wasnt allowed so i called again and the person said no i can get the surgery as long is i do that long list of things. So i make an appt at GBMC and they call me and tell me my insurance DOES NOT cover the surgery of an kind for any reason, due to my employers insurance broker choosing to exclude it to save money. I was devastated but now i am scheduled for self pay in Mexico w Dr. Illan on jan 17 2014. Good luck to you!

Things I will NOT miss about being fat.
1. Pretending I hate the beach and summer just because I am too hot to be outside since i only wear pants and short sleeves 2. Not being able to run around w my daughter (6yrs old) 3. When my daughter see's a diet pill commercial she says "you should get that cause your fat" 4. Parents asking me should you really be eating that 5. Not being able to wear some boots cause they wont fit over my calf 6. Not being able to wear heels for very long 7. Seeing pictures ppl take of me (when i take them i can get a good angle n not look at fat) 8. Looking in the mirror naked...yuck 9. When I am talking to a cute guy im wondering if the only reason he wont like me is cause im fat

Low BMI Sleevers?
Yes I will be going to Mexico...Most likely with Dr. Illan I just bought a new car which im kicking myself over...if i didnt i prob would choose Dr Ortiz just because he has a sort of celebrity status i guess you could say and its sort of like an extra assurance. but Ive read great things about Dr. Illan and the surgery is 4,500 plus your airfare, so im comfortable with my choice. now i hope i can find cheap airfare!!

Low BMI Sleevers?

Low BMI Sleevers?
Right its no lightweight at all i cant even imagine what 90lbs of fat would look like next to me! thats why i put "lower" in quotes...but i just happened to be researching and one doctors site had pros and cons listed and being on a lower end of high bmi makes your process harder. didnt know how true it was. but like you said it makes sense if you really change your habits and all then i dont know y i couldnt still be successful
-
Low BMI Sleevers?
where do i go to see that terri82much
-
Low BMI Sleevers?
Ive read that if you have a "lower" BMI that you wont be as successful? Anyone with a lower BMI that would care to share your weight loss progress? Im short too idk if that makes a difference but Im 5'3" with a bmi of 37...I want to lose about 90lbs.

Sleeve or bypass
Congrats Allan Cameron thats awesome. I do feel like I have been leaning towards the sleeve for the last few months maybe the Doctor who did the seminar just made the bypass seem a little more appealing.
