  1. Thanks for the great advice! and congrats and your huge achievement!
  2. No im not extreme but i need to lose 90-100lbs. and yes i agree will power is the hardest part.
  3. So this whole time i was thinking I wanted to get the sleeve but i just went to a second seminar and i am stuck in the middle. I feel like there are good things about both, but i hear long term the bypass helps you more. Also with the dumping syndrome it will discourage me from eating any sweets. I am also probably going to cancun to see Dr. Perez since I will be doing self pay. Any suggestions?
  4. How was your surgery? did you end up going with Dr perez in cancun? if so what hospital did you go to? i really want to go to him im just so nervous about going to mexico
  5. how was your surgery? how much did he cost? im looking into Dr perez
  6. Cheap self pay places in tampa
  7. Carlotta- i seen the post but sometimes a secondary insurance wont cover something if the first one doesnt
  8. So I just got switched from my parents insurance to a new insurance through my employer since im 26 now and I have been making doctors appts going to seminars to have the gastric sleeve. My heart was set on this and I thought for sure no problem my insurance would pay for this i have high blood and many other problems. I had a 4 hour doctors appt set for next week to make my round of appts since my doctor has most everything in house. So i call my insurance this morning and ask about coverage and told me No they DO NOT cover it whatsoever... Im completely devastated and have had my heart set on this for awhile now, there is no way! i could do self pay...So needless to say does anyone know of any other options?! can i get obamacare insurance as a secondary? will they pay? i know they cover it in maryland but idk if they will cover it as a second insurance and that seems a little expensive to pay for 2 monthly premiums idk if i could ever afford that :'( im so upset this ruined everything
  9. I just found out my insurance thru my employer does not cover it...Im in maryland but do you know if I add the obamacare insurance as a secondary will they pick up the tab?
  10. I heard you really shouldnt have that stuff with the sleeve because its just not good for you but with the sleeve it wont really get stuck or cause a block like it might with the band. with the sleeve your muscle can still contract and squeeze the food down with the band your muscle cant contract.
  11. Great List!! Mine would be.... Wear shorts and tank tops Wear a bikini Play soccer tennis and field hockey again Run and play with my daughter Wear a dress and heels to the bar Go on rollercoasters and feel safe! Wear a sexy halloween costume Let people take pictures of me Get more tattoos on my side of my stomach Look good naked!
  12. hmmm thats a thought short term disability...i wonder if i could get short term disability for 2 weeks?
  13. My doctor will not do surgery until youve quit smoking for 6months pre op! and you can not smoke after...heard a not so great story about complications of smoking and the surgery. just an fyi
  14. Did you feel like you needed 5 weeks or did you just want more time?
  15. ok wow 3 days is too soon for me! lol but im assuming the elastic binder is probably the same thing they gave me for my stomach after I had a c-section with my daughter.
  16. Thank you everyone! It makes me feel a lot better that many of you went back after one week. I am a contractor so I want to make sure I get signed on again next year and dont want to get looked at negatively for missing too many days. I have a 6 year old daughter too so she will keep me moving a little during my week home.
  17. Hey I'm just starting my process to get WLS and I also just started a new job and was wondering how long everyone was out of work for? Since I just started this new job I dont want to be out of work too long I was hoping I could go back after a week or week and a half at the most? My doctor said 2-3 weeks though...did anyone go back to work after a week? Keep in mind I do have an admin assit. position so I am mostly sitting with some walking.
  18. I completely agree with you its invading. I used to be a bank teller earlier this year actually...but when people get larger official checks we have to make sure that its really you, also we usually will verify your signature too and we were supposed to ask/dig to find out why you need the check. I hated doing it because i didnt think it mattered. But the bank is all about trying to sell you something credit card, credit line, mortgage, different types of accounts and so forth, so thats part of the reason they want the tellers to ask plus to make sure your not taking your money elsewhere. hope this insight makes you feel a little better? :/

  20. Well first at my highest weight, i went to the doctors they weighed me and said oh 222lbs! what a lucky number and i almost died i couldnt believe it. so i went on medifast wasted about $2000 because i lost 40lbs then gained back 35. Now my 6yo daughter is playing soccer and tennis (so did I in high school) and i just miss being active. I miss going swimming, im too hot in the summer always wearing pants and short sleeves. I just want to be normal again, about 8 years ago i was at a good weight for myself about 125lbs and i want that back!!
  21. http://www.upperchesapeakebariatricsurgery.org/ Im in harford county maryland and I am seeing the doctors at Upper Chesapeake Bariatric Center. I havent had surgery yet but so far they seem great and very knowlegdable.
  22. This is a great idea i think i will try this now while im in pre surgery stage so i can get used to making it. but it looks so yummy!!
  23. Ok that sounds like how my PCP is. And in fact a month ago my PCP did all those tests on me I wonder if those can be submitted to the insurance? Luckily my surgeon is a one stop shop as well. But congrats!! Please keep me posted on how things are going for you!
  24. I hope so. I've feel like Ive literally become obsessed with researching the gastric sleeve, since Ive decided thats what I want. Im just worried that its going to take a lot of work to get the insurance company to cover it, even though I qualify I just dont want to delay the process. I want to begin my new healthy life!!
