Hey Chris I do not think that you should have a big meal the day before surgery, no one ever told me that. And you are right we are on a liquid diet preop. Are you all going home the same day of your surgery? After I woke up I went for an xray and then went back to postop and then went home, I was at the hospital at 6:00 and home by 1:30.

Pam I go back to work tomorrow. I am a bit nervous about being on my feet again all day, but I know eveything will go ok. I have my postop appointment today at 2:15. I wish you both the best of luck. I know you will do great!

Yep, I am almost there and tonight my operating system on my laptop crashed, sooooooooooooooo.... I am on my daughters laptop at 1130pm because I gave up on my laptop. I will definately have it fixed by sunset tomarrow!

I all in a sudden am losing 1/2 a pound a day right now! I am sooooo happy, and the starvation feeling "I think" is gone and I did not take loads of tylenol today.

But talk about an emotional crazy woman! Doesn't anybody in this world see that "I" am going in for surgery? And "F" no I can't help you move on Saturday, and no I can't work for you on Sunday! F'n idiots, and at that point you say to yourself "This is exactly why I am fat"! I always am last on my own list so therefore don't have time to eat right, excercize and take care of myself. I have totally minimized this surgery to anybody who I have told I am getting it, so therefore they don't think it is anything more than me getting permanent makeup on, so I really can't blame them.

Geeeeeez! I am not sleeping, and the anxiety attacks started yesterday. I have to chuckle about that, but if you have never had one you would never understand, and you have to understand why and how your brain works to understand anxiety attacks.

hang in there Pam!! People just don't get it sometimes.

Funny you mentioned moving though, I have a buddy of mine that asked me to help him move the first week of march and I had to tell him no. He was pretty understanding though.

Make sure when you are recouping you make yourself #1!! get better fast and then time to move along.

Hey Pam!

You hang in there! Like they say, "tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life!"

I have had my bad moments too! But I try to think about the future. On April 24, I and my husband and four daughters and one son-in-law will be flying to Del Rio, TX to attend graduation ceremonies for our son. He will be receiving his "silver wings" as a pilot with the U S Air Force. It is three days of formal and informal ceremonies. So I am hoping to lose enough weight so that I can shop for a really nice little wardrobe and will look very nice for the ocassion! He joined the Air Force at 19 (he is 30 now) and did everything the hard way on his own. He is now a 2nd Lt. We couldn't be prouder. Can you tell?

Anyway, you will be in my prayers and we will all be soooo looking forward to hear how you are doing.

Gail

If I could lose 20-25 lbs by then it would be OK by me! If I don't, I can live with that too because I believe eventually it will be coming off.

No my son doesn't know unless his sisters said something to him. I doubt they did though. My daughters all know as well as a couple of my bros and seestas!

Not to complain but more to share..

And I understand these are totally normal feelings...

I have read these boards nightly for hours and hours and on occasion thought to myself thinking more curiously about why people would be experiencing some of the feelings they were having and synopsizing that they were induced by something other than the band. Rethinking about some of those situations... I am thinking I was wrong....

I am so friggin nauseated right now. I am seriously thinking about using one of anti nausea meds for after surg.

So it may be that I head over to the hosp. earlier than scheduled just to try and calm nerves.

I did not want "the big good bye" (I HATE goodbyes) at work today so I faked that I had to run an errand and never went back.:)

I am not going to cheat at all tonight at dinner (in prep for tommarows procedure) and in honor of CHRIS not eating his big meal on his eve of his surgery on the recommendation of his nutritionist.

And on that note: the nutritionist at our doctors office is sooooo incredible I am so glad that I chose her to do my nutritional eval. She has gone so beyond her normal job answering many questions via email or phone message.

Pam

Good luck tomorrow! I know you will do great and once it is over you will be so enthusiastic about the upcoming changes in your life. I know everything will be just fine. I cant remember where you said you were having your surgery, but the nurses at Renown South Meadows were so fantastic and helpful and caring. It is ok to ber nervous. The surgery part will all be over soon and you can start your new life. And like Chris said make sure that you are #1 during recovery. Take it easy and stay on top of your pain meds. Dont miss a dose the first few days. Once your pain gets out of control it is hard to get it back under control. So take it every 4 hours (or whatever your script says) so that you are not miserable.

Pam take care and you will be in my thoughts.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
