I'm sure this will get easier after I have surgery Tuesday but not eating is psychologically weird.

You can do this! I remember that the first few days were the hardest. Best of luck to you!

I feel your pain (hunger). I had three weeks of a liquid diet and the whole 'you won't feel hungry thing' missed me completely. On puréed food now and I finally understand what that means. I'm 6 weeks out and doing well. Hang in...

It will get easier. This is one of the hardest parts! Just keep your eye on the prize! It will come!!! You can do this and be successful! Just try to take your mind off of it if you can by doing something else (easier said than done I know!) But you are capable and it will pay off!!!! Sending you good thoughts for a successful journey!

It was a breeze actually. Just had to drink that barium which has the same consistancy as chalk Water. What was really neat, if you get a chance you can see inside of your own body which is always interesting (at least to me).

Thanks everyone, I'm telling myself that this is all temporary and that food isnt going anywhere. Tomorrow I think I will probably sleep most of the day honestly.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
