Congrats to you too. We are not dieting we are alternatively eating for life. Sound convincing? It's kinda of funny, I can still fix my family dinner and its not bothering me at all. I figured it took a lot of wrong food decisions to get this way it's going to take a lot of right ones to fix it.

Just approved August 26' date=' surgery in two weeks. I had to start my preop diet that day. Boy, I have been running around all weekend buying my Vitamins, Isopure Protein powder and other items. My first opinion of Protein drink......not bad. I chose vanilla. Looking forward to this transformation.[/quote']

I don't know if you're going based on your surgeon's recommendations or not… Being that I'm not a big fan of Protein drinks, I was willing to go with what they suggested. They said that they don't choose a Protein Drink unless everyone in the office reaches a consensus on it. The protein drink is called chike and it has a chocolate, vanilla, orange, and strawberry flavor and the Vitamins are a brand called Fusion… I bought a few sample packages and so far, I tried the chocolates and it wasn't so bad. I just decreased the amount of Water and it just a little bit and added ice instead – it made it a little frothy when I put it in the blender. I don't know if that'll help you.

I'm a little anxious to start my diet.. It's not about drinking the items – it has more to do with them wanting us to drink to Protein shakes a day and having one small meal… This Protein Powder is not cheat and neither are the vitamins. The way I look at it is that I have to do the liquid diet postop – I wonder if there are more cost-effective changes I could make preop? I'm even willing to do the Clear liquids just to avoid the high cost. Unfortunately, I'm disabled and when my husband left, he took in the extra money that we might've had and he's the one with the job. I do receive disability but when you become disabled at 27 years old, the amount is not all that much. I can't complain because it's a blessing but, funds are extremely tight right now and I'm not sure what to do…

Sorry to hear you are in such a bind. Maybe talk to your NUT. I was given multiple options on my protein sources and Vitamin options; some cheaper than others. I also haven't had to buy any groceries for the next two weeks because of my pre-op diet. That has helped me save money.

Thanks for the suggestions – I finally was able to talk to the nutritionist and the doctor and they're telling me to have nothing but chicken and vegetables – no butter or anything of that nature of course… I'm working on it. I actually went through the day and I wasn't hungry at all and I remember them telling me that after the surgery, if you're not hungry, don't we… I know I should eat more than a one meal today that I really just didn't feel like eating and then when did, I measured everything out and I couldn't even finish it. I guess that's a good sign… :-)

I can't say I've lost that much but then again I really don't know how much I've lost. When I started this process – I did it because I hit 330 pounds and it scared me to death. I was on several medications for my rheumatoid arthritis that I can off of. I gained a lot of weight with prednisone. But, I ended up somehow losing 20 pounds of it within a few days – which to me was Water weight. It took me a little bit of time to get an appointment with the Surgeons office and apparently I was at 310 the first time and then 311 the second appointment and then today I was back down to 310. They were telling me that I needed more of a weight-loss. I wish they had started or had seen my previous weights… LOL

I was a little frustrated today though. I went to my appointment and then they call me back telling me that they forgot to do was scan on me and asked me to come all the way back because they said it was really important. So I came all the way back, I have the scan and was on My way out and they asked me $100 for the scan. Nobody ever mentioned it or mentioned the cost or anything like that. I didn't even know that there was a scan I was supposed to get. Nothing in any materials or information that they gave me mentioned this body scan. I had to tell them I didn't have the money for it. I don't. I did Goodvine the Protein powders. I'm not sure what to do – they said that they would talk to somebody but, I'm wondering if I should email the contact I have from the doctors office maybe even the doctor – he gives out his email address as well. What do you guys think?

On a sidenote, I had to stop my birth control pills for surgery… I could be gaining weight from stopping the hormones. It's going to send my body into a cycle. As women, we all gain weight around that time.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
