I am approved by insurance for a Tummy tuck' date=' Lipo and panniculectomy!!! I NEVER in a million years expected insurance would approve, even the nurse at the dr.'s office was surprised! And....it was approved the FIRST time!! I at least thought I would have to appeal. I think it helped that I got a referral from my pain management dr, due to the back/neck issues. Plus, I wrote about how many medical problems are resolved, since the weight loss and how important exercise is in keeping it off. Also put that I am limited in my exercise options, due to other problems, and riding the recumbant bike, is pretty much my only option now, but....the pannis sits on top of my thighs making THAT difficult. SOOOOO, the stars aligned and the request landed on the right person's desk and I am approved!! Also thought that would only approve panniculectomy, but....approval has codes for lipo AND TT!! WOOHOO!!! SOOO excited!![/quote']

Sorry just realized I looked at wrong date. Good luck for Oct

That is awesome! I haven't been sleeved yet but I have terrible back pain and exercising is so hard with this pendulous dangler blocking my legs' range of motion. I also have pics of rashes and tears. I'm sure I'd get approved for a panni but my doctor... I need a new one. I don't even know if she speaks English. She doesn't ask me questions and I've tried to talk to we about my issues but its like talking to a wall

Anyhow, please let me know what you did and submitted and what your proof of issues were so I can make sure to be on the right track. Also, how has losing the weight affected it? Did u still have back issues?

I started with pain management and got a referral from him. If you go on your ins. website, do a search for criteria for panniculectomy and take that to your dr. for them to reference when writing the referral. Losing weight helped my back a little, but my back problems are not weight related, I have ankylosing spondylosis.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
