Support Group FOR Members, BY Members!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! A couple of us have started a private Facebook group in order to coordinate regular, monthly meet-ups...our own support group, if you will! We'd love to include more sleevers from the DMV, regardless of where you're at on your sleeve journey. Please join us - we'd love to meet you!

https://www.facebook.com/groups/dmvsleevers/

We plan to get together at a public place later this month for our first meeting, then plan to rotate hosting responsibilities between members of the group. Spread the word! Right now, it looks like our group will be meeting in NoVA (Northern Virginia) and MoCo (Montgomery County, MD), and we're looking at weekend meetings (i.e. 3rd Saturday morning of every month). We'd love to have your input - join today!

P.S. A "private" Facebook group is viewable by anyone - this allows you to find our group and request to join. One of our admins will approve you, and anyone looking at the group's page will be able to see who is a member. However - only group members may see any posts, events, etc.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
