Will the REAL pre-op diet stand up?

Recommended Posts

So, my NUT has stressed preop diet consists of 5 shakes, 1 Protein Bar, and Clear liquids for 12 days, then 2 days Clear Liquids.< /p>

I was not ready for what the doctor had to say today.....3 shakes a day, 2 cups of plain yogurt (100 calorie limit per cup), and clear liquids for 12 days....then2 days of clear liquids

I'm going with the doctor's version.....but has anyone had such a discrepancy between Dr & NUT? They work together, she was the NUT they wanted me to see.....funny/odd though how they differ.....

I got conflicting information between my surgeon and the NUT he uses as well!

We have two NUTs in our practice and their information conflicts with the NP whose information conflicts with the surgeons.

Fortunately (!?!??!!) I have had so many issues eating, I was forced to go the most conservative route so it wasn't an issue.

Calling the Nutritionist a NUT makes me giggle every time I see it posted.

When I first saw the term "nut" on the message board, I thought it was rude.....but my NUT said to call her a nut, and she was very funny about it.

I don't have a NUT, my Doc gave me my Pre-op diet instructions. I'm even more conservative then he is. His diet is 7 days of liquids 800-1000 calories a day. The number of days are based on BMI, so mine is 7. I've chosen to do 14 days. 11 days full liquids and 3 days clear liquids. (the last three days before surgery). Of course NPO (nothing by mouth) after midnight before surgery. He also doesn't require a bowel prep, but I'm going to do that on my own to make sure I'm cleaned out before surgery. I've also kept my Protein around 70 Gms / day and in the past 6 days I've stayed between 500-630 calories. I haven't had any problems with the liquid diet except for some mild headaches relieved with Tylenol. Not really hungry either. So far, so good. 9 days to go.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
