HELP! Feeling terrible on the pre-op diet - only 5 days to go!

Recommended Posts

Anyone else out there feel yucky on the pre-op diet? I only have 5 days to go but I'm feeling tired, having headaches, and my body hurts. I have no energy. I cut out caffine a long time ago. I had to stop some of my medication for osteoarthritis which is probably the main cause but I'm tired of feeling like this. I work 12 hr shifts and I'm not looking forward to my last three before surgery.

I keep thimking...I know I can, I know I can!

I was supposed to be sleeved a month ago so I went through all this already, I ended up with a Migraine for 2 solid days and couldn't take a thing,..I felt awful and Im due to be sleeved 7-30, not looking forward to it again, Im praying this round goes smoothly. I am so sorry your dealing with this, the only thing that seemed to make me feel a little better was sleeping and drinking lots of Water. I do hope you feel better and good luck to you!! :)

It is hard, thankfully it is only for a few more days. If you find it difficult to work, call your Nut. They might be able to give you a revised diet or add to it to get you through.

Best of luck to you!!

I had a terrible headache yesterday and still some of it today, but feel like I am finally doing better. I am only on day 3 of a 14 day diet and I still want to eat everything in sight, but I keep telling myself that it will get better. I just keep fluids in me to help subside the "hunger" pains. The only down fall to drinking so much is that I am up 2-3 times nightly to go to the bathroom. UGH! Good Luck to all!

Lisa, you seem to have the hardest part of this down... a great mental attitude going into it.

Let us know how you are doing.

Thank you guys so much! I worked a 12 hr shift last night and really don't know how I survived! Along with my weight issues, and then some, I also have Fibromyalgia. It's kicking my butt right now! I hurt from head to toe, can't sleep, etc... I already called and told work I won't be able to make it tonight:( Hate to do that but I'm not going to be any good there, if I could even drag myself out to get there.

This will get better! At this point I welcome a little anesthesia;) lol

I'm right there with ya'....day 3 of the pre-op diet and big time headache today! I am allowed to take Tylenol, so that helps. I'm gonna try to drink more Water, too....Good luck to you! My surgery is the 26th.

I'm a Nurse too, and I quit my last job (that I really loved) because I just couldn't work 12 hour shifts anymore. I started my liquid diet on Thursday. Thursday and Friday were stressful at work (I work on an Acute Psych Unit). I don't know if it was the stress or the 2nd day of liquids, but I did have a headache and my neck and shoulders were hurting me. I took 2 Tylenols at work. When I got home (at midnight), I took a Flexeril and Restoril and had a good night's sleep. I'm off this weekend, start my 4th day of liquids today and I feel fine. I have 7 more shifts to work before I start my medical leave. I can't wait to board that plane.... Surgery is Aug. 1st in Mexico.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
