is anyone not hungry after having gastric sleeve surgery

Recommended Posts

I am 8 months out now, and have just recently had hunger poking it's head up again. It's not constant, and it's not often, but if I go 4-5 hours without eating my belly lets me know, it's nothing like it was before surgery though.

I occasionally get what I thought was hunger, but really my body was signaling that I needed to drink more fluids.

I'm almost 7 months out, and I do get hungry. It's not like before, and it's certainly manageable. It also doesn't take much to satisfy it. I think I'm more like a normal person now, with fairly normal eating habits. I do love it! Some days I just feel like eating, and I have to battle that. It's not hunger, it's years of bad habits, reaction to stress, etc.

I'm more or less the same as MichiganChic. I did go a very long time, though, when I really just was never hungry. Now, six months out I often wake up hungry. But it's certainly manageable. I feel normal.

Head hunger, that enemy of all of us, came back at around four months. Like physical hunger, it's manageable and easier to squash.

I'm not hungry until around noon each day, but them I'm hungry the rest of the day!

This is true for me so I was waiting too long between eating and it was causing nausea when my stomach filled up with air. So I eat a bite or two every hour or two.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
